By BradleyH

A spring air mattress works by using one or more air chambers in the springs to provide support. There are various different styles and prices; some cheap ones can be used for camping while more models which are expensive are used for luxurious beds. The price of an air spring mattress is comparable to a normal inner-spring mattress which has the same features.

Spring air makes many different types of mattresses. Some being the spring air back supporter mattress, the spring air pillow top zoned mattress and even a spring air back supporter zoned mattress pad, and many more. There are so many different types of mattresses that it is so important to take them for a test drive and make sure you find the one you want.

Certain Beds are Used for Medicinal Purposes

Air spring mattresses are popularly used for medical purposes. These mattresses are usually adjustable and contain special control mechanisms. Adjustable settings allow the mattress to change its pressure periodically and it can also deflate or inflate certain air chambers, this helps to even the pressure of a person’s body on the mattress.

Some air mattresses are self-inflating so when the air valve of the mattress is opened it draws in air. This type is especially good for hikers and campers, although some bedroom mattresses may use the same mechanism.

An air spring mattress can keep you quite comfortable while sleeping and helps your spine to properly align which reduces the stress on your backbone. A spring air pillow top mattress can also fit the shape and weight of your body to help prevent muscle and joint pains the next morning.

The Drawbacks

There are some drawbacks to this type of mattress because although it is comfortable there have been many complaints on the quality of the product. Normal inner spring mattresses can last between 7 to 10 years if kept properly but most spring air mattresses only last half the time. Sagging is a big problem for this mattress, it can start happening after a few years or it can develop within a few months. Sinkholes are also common when the air is no longer properly distributed.

Why We Still Love Them

Despite its drawbacks, many people continue to use this type of mattress because of its comfort and luxury. In addition to aligning your spine, scientists have also found it will evenly distribute pressure through the body, which will help to decrease body movements during sleep and improve circulation. Its quality will depend on the brand and what materials are used. The most common foundations are box springs, wood foundations, and grid foundations.
